Tea For the Soul

I’ve been drinking a lot of tea lately. A lot. And a couple of weeks ago when I was starting to catch a cold and REALLY drinking a lot of tea, I had a very fortunate email come through.

It was from Courtney Willis Harper, of SoulShine Communications, letting me know she had a product she wanted to introduce me to: Biron Tea.

The timing was serendipitous, frankly, and now that I know what Biron Tea is about I guess I should blame it on fate. But, I’m getting ahead of myself.

Owners Andi and Roland Biron live right here in Macon, Georgia and make their tea locally. But this isn’t just any old tea, this tea is made using ” a combination of tradtional Western, Chinese, and Ayurvedic herbs.  By melding many different systems we are able to incorporate the insight and knowledge of many different cultures, thereby picking the best healing herbs for each blend, designing unique wellness teas” (from the website).

Sounded like exactly what I needed! I got to try all of the different kinds: Worryfree, Love and Laughter, Inspiration, and Confidence. I tried the Love and Laughter first, and it says ” all the herbs in this tea were chosen for their affinity to camaraderie and joy. Recommended for heart ache, grief, or anyone wanting to release an emotional block.” The flavors are a ” sweet Rose tea, with a wonderful floral bouquet, contains Western Ayurvedic, and Chinese traditional herbs such as Holy Basil, Oatstraw, and Yarrow”.

Now, I’ve been experiencing a serious funk here lately and the day I tried this out I was feeling especially funky and mopey. I didn’t even realize this tea was supposed to help with that until after I drank it and I was already feeling a little uplifted. So perhaps in some way it works?

Owner Andi Biron would explain that, ” Our teas are the perfect blend of taste and wellness.  I am the one with the alternative medicine background and my husband, Roland, is the one with the culinary background. We are focused on different aspects, but it comes together beautifully. We like to say that we have perfected the first gourmet healthy herbal sipping teas.”

” During the process of making the teas, we focused on every detail, from herbal combinations to sourcing and packaging. It was important to us to maintain integrity in all aspects.  It’s been a labor of love that has taken over three years to develop,” said Biron.
She would go on to add that ” we are proud to be a Georgia company and love its heritage.  I grew up in Macon and am proud to once again call it my home. My husband has lived most of his adult life in GA as well. Iced Tea has always been a part of Southern Culture, which is why we wanted our teas to be enjoyed hot or cold.”
I can say that I very much enjoyed each of these teas, my favorite would be the Worryfree Tea: ” This fragrant Jasmine, Lavender blend contains a hint of honey and Western, Ayurvedic, and Chinese traditional herbs such as Ashwagandha and Kava Kava. Each herb in WORRYFREE was carefully selected, creating the perfect blend for harmony and relaxation. Recommended for type-A’s that need a holiday from stress and anxiety.” Hmmmm…. perhaps that’s why?
