“WTF, This Weekend…..?”- from Snacking on Macon by Angel Collins

I don’t think I’ve had the chance to syndicate another local bloggers posts before, but Angel Collins is one of the writers here in town I respect the most. So when I saw that she wrote about many of the events going on this weekend- many of them are even tonight and I can’t go because of my stupid my last joyful class ever for undergraduate being on a First Friday- I had to ask her if I could syndicate her blog post.

This means I’m posting the first few paragraphs and you will need to click the link at the bottom to read the rest- so please support my friend and read her wonderful analysis of this weekend’s events!!

Love to all y’all,

Molly

It’s not often that I look through my events on Facebook and think, “How am I going to do it all?” I mean, it’s happened before on weekends… and remember those few months where Tuesday and Thursday were the busiest days of the week? It’s getting close to that again especially with all of the music the Moonhanger Group is bringing to The Cox Capitol Theatre – but they are not alone. Here are all the things you can do this weekend, and I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry, but you’re going to hate me because you’ll want to do them all as well.

Friday

Get your shopping on and then some:

– Robinson Home, a new store featuring cooking and entertaining items for the home, opens it’s doors today. They are located a 470 First Street next to Macon Arts Alliance, which is where you’ll want to head for your next bit of shopping.

– First Friday Holiday Art Bazaar allows you to shop local to pick up unique gifts your friends and loved one can not get anywhere else.

– MGAA’s Holiday Artist Market is ongoing through December. More unique gifts from artists in Middle Georgia. The opening reception, happening tonight, will also feature baked goods to buy and a raffle to win wonderfully artistic prizes.

Somewhere there’s music… :

– I’m pretty excited about Maryex tonight at Grant’s. I listened to the 3 songs they put up on Soundcloud and I have to say I like it… a bit metal, a bit punk, I think I’m going to like it! They’re playing with Salty Women and Kafka Kid at 10pm.

– I just saw the posting from Fresh Produce Records, a new record store at 451 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., about their Mactown Presents: Macon Underground First Friday. This is interesting because there is no line-up, so artists can come and perform, the audience has no idea who will be there, but that’s when you catch some of the best acts. I will definitely try to put this in my schedule.

– Another performance worth checking out is Amerigo Gazaway w/ This is ART happening at Roasted Cafe and Lounge at 442 Second Street. Gazaway’s mixes impressed Roots drummer Questlove. I’m sure he will impress you. This is ART takes bass and beats to another level. Rock out at the free show starting at 10pm.

– $5 gets you in to see CBDB at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom, a band that blends progressive rock, funk, folk, and jam fusion, resulting in an original and unavoidably danceable sound.

And we’re not even going to go into all the clubs doing their thing tonight. But if live music is your thing, you’ll love the selection above.

Saturday

Things you can do in the morning:

– Historic Vineville Christmas Tour of Homes

– For the kiddos! I am down with a “build your own pancake bar” that will be at the Junior League’s Character Breakfast. Also, Santa will be there *squee*!

– Something else for the kiddos! Christmas Express at the Hay House with Father Christmas, a train, self guided tours, performances, and cookies. Cookies and Hot Chocolate. Did I mention cookies?

– Movies for the kiddos! Friday night you can watch Polar Express at the Sports Hall of Fame, but Friday begins Macon Bibb Parks and Recreation‘s new film series Christmas on the Green. Movies at Luther Williams Field sounds pretty exciting, doesn’t it? Saturday’s movie is Home Alone. Start a new tradition with your kids!

– Beautiful Christmas at Taste and See Coffee with music from Scarlet Fade. Should definitely be kid friendly.

– The music tonight couldn’t be more different:
