Why Pharrel’s Hat Wasn’t That Bad

I’ve created a new tradition during the last two Grammy award shows to dip in & out of the show & just watch the performances the following day. Somehow I can enjoy the whole experience better that way. Along with this (and with most other shows/games I enjoy) I usually stay off the Internet while viewing the event. Opinions have existed since the beginning of time. I get it. Eve convinced Adam to eat the forbidden fruit because essentially she thought that God was full of it. The Internet acts like most of us in the late 20’s/early 30’s age group are where not only do we think everything we say matters, we all think we’re funny & clever. You probably hate me already right now but my point is: Pharrell’s Hat Wasn’t That Bad.

It’s not that I’m being too serious or I don’t have a sense of humor I just think this time, it’s really stupid.

Celebrity is a disease that most of America claims to hate but we all secretly want some small piece of it. We build stars & love to be the first ones to champion them & then when the world loves them we grow bored & cheer on the drug induced meltdown. Pharrell’s track record is undeniable in so many different fields. Here’s a man that at the age of 40 still looks 25 & is coming off one of (if not the biggest) year of his career musically & all the Internet can come up with is his hat resembled an Arby’s logo.

Furthering this year long run of unoriginal jokes through memes that lead to pointless hashtags & twitter accounts that fizzle out a few days later. Just from a fashion stand point, it’s an extended top hat or something like that. Pharrell has been wearing these Indiana Jones type hats for the past two years. I could see if Pharrell always wore suits & then he dressed down & it looked abnormal. Pharrell has ALWAYS been eccentric.

What was even more silly is people calling whoever runs the Arby’s twitter account a “genius”. REALLY? Did you go order a roast beef sandwich after seeing the tweet? The answer is probably no. I’d be interested to see sales sheets for curly fries at Arby’s this week. All that tweet did was garner retweets that mean nothing 24 hours after. I’ve also heard from more than 5 people that his hat “set black people back”.

NO. “Black Twitter” sets black people back. Freddie P from the first Making The Band sucking his thumb as a grown as man sets black people back. I think Pharrells hat just showed how bored most of the Internet really is & how no one is safe from the 24 year old with the meme generator app. This won’t be the first time Im probably alone in not laughing at the predictable pic-stitch joke with Helvetica type. Whatever. Carry on America lol. Here’s a meme to lighten the mood.

*the world laughing at Pharrells hat*
*Grumpy cat not amused*
