The Allure of LuLaRoe

I was added to a LuLaRoe group pretty early on, before the craze really took hold.

I still didn’t order anything, but just kind of quietly watched the fury take hold.

It was only much later, once I was feeling rather frustrated with how my clothes were fitting me, that I noticed a friend saying wearing LuLaRoe was the first time in a long time that she really felt pretty. I haven’t quite experienced that, but it caught my attention.

I had always said that if I ordered anything I would ONLY get it from my friend Kate, the first to add me to a LLR group. Once I looked over her inventory one evening I found a dress and went from there. I’m not a super huge fan of lots of prints, so I didn’t pick any leggings. I also got a dress and leggings for my daughter.

Then my second order was with Shelli, because I thought Kate might have recruited Shelli. And I’m a big fan of staying loyal to the first person to approach me about a product.

But this was when I realized… I want a pair of black leggings…. no one has them. Like, anywhere. They’re called “unicorns” like those mythical perfect men that rarely exist, or even like the mythical animal 😉 I narrowly missed a pair that Carolyn had on her site at one point 🙁

This was when it dawned on me…. this is why I can see so many people selling it, and doing well. I had yet one more friend sign up for it today, Carrie. Now I’ve got 5 consultants I’ve shopped with. And I keep looking for more in search of various unicorns of solid print items.

I’ve jumped down the LuLaRoe hole.

Much like the Keep Collective jewelry I sell, I’ve found myself addicted to finding various items and searching through various groups. Because each consultant has various items, and they are made in limited quantities, this is why you have to jump on top of these online shows (or in person ones) if there’s something specific you want. It’s a little frustrating at times, but it’s a brilliant business model, creating the allure of the limited item at a frenzied pace.

I’m happy with everything I’ve bought so far, it won’t keep me out of my local boutiques for my specialty items- but I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve bought.

Enough to the point where I even spent…. well, close to $50, to get a pair of those unicorn black leggings. I can officially say I get it now.
