Tasty Tuesday: South City Kitchen Meets Buckhead

Fifth Group Restaurants recently brought their South City Kitchen to Buckhead, and I got to check it out!

First, South City Kitchen has always been a favorite of mine ever since first checking it out in college. It was there that I first fell in love with Brussels Sprouts, something my parents never made because they didn’t like them.

And anytime I get the chance I go back. This time it was to meet my dear friend Kelly for brunch after seeing a band I work with, All The Locals, out in Atlanta the evening before.

There’s my guys!

Anyways, South City Kitchen has a new location in Buckhead and we tried out some items that aren’t on their other menus. So let’s dive right on in, shall we?

First up: you can’t pass up biscuits and cornbread. Just can’t do it.

Second: The crab toast with celery salad, peppers, grilled semolina bread. Awesome. So much awesome.

Third: Time for the entrée!!! I got the Farro Verde Fricassee with spring vegetables, ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, english pea emulsion. Holy sweet heaven, it was all so good. All of it. I like ricotta but wasn’t sure how it would be in squash blossoms but it was EVERYTHING. Just all of it together. Yum.

Missing this deliciousness from @fifthgroup’s #SouthCityKitchen in @buckheadatl right about now!!

And funny enough, I almost got the Geeche Stew, made with field peas, collards, blistered tomatoes, sunny side up egg, hazelnut romesco, grilled sourdough. I guess that’s for next time. It’s only at the Buckhead location, if I remember right.

Fourth: Oh you thought  we were done? Wrong! This was the dessert course: beignets. Yummy yummy, so good. And still rather light.

Fifth: This isn’t more food, just an observation on the design of the restaurant. It’s really, really pretty. I didn’t feel like I was in this busy part of Buckhead. And they have valet parking, which was really nice.

All in all, I’ll be back for sure. Fifth Group shines at everything they do 🙂
