#SFW2014: What To Wear To Savannah Fashion Week

This is a very important topic. I have been going over outfit ideas in my head, and by trying them on in my closet, for weeks trying to figure out what to wear to Savannah Fashion Week.

For the first two days, I thought I’d keep it simple because I will be literally driving back and forth from Macon and Savannah to go to the events (and to be home with my sweet babies).

I found THE most adorable black romper yesterday at Jack & Darcy- and I’m thrilled because it’s the very first black romper I have found that works on me. What I love about this outfit is that it is equal parts sexy, classic, edgy and easy. Sexy because of the deep v-neck cut which exposes the décolletage, classic because of the black color and the detailing of the shoulder and buttons at the sleeves, edgy because- well- I think most rompers have an edge to them and easy because you can dress it up or down depending on the accessories and shoes.

clearly- this is not me- it's the super cute Jack and Darcy model! LOVE this romper. Love love love.

I really think this would even be cute with a large straw Derby hat and Chanel sunglasses and heels. Don’t you?

That’s one outfit down. Now, I also know I want to wear my super awesome dress that I got at Custard this year- an amazing snakeskin print creation.

I have yet to decide when to wear this dress or to what event- but I love it and so it must come out at some point, right?

Now- I know I’ll need to pull some jeans out at some point because, well, I’m just going to be worn out from all the dressing up otherwise. (Yes- this is possible even for me!!!) So yeah… jeans, and one of my cuter running outfits. (Still gotta keep up the workout!)

AND- today I got the news that the skirt I ordered for the Runway show is on its way to me!

So the challenge for me for the last night, for the Runway show, was what to wear that could be both classy and edgy and could be worn a variety of ways.

Thanks to following fellow blogger Amy Breckenridge of Cupcakes & Couture on Instagram, I ran across a post of hers in which she wore this:

A tea length tulle skirt. I have been in love with the tea length skirts for a while (referred to by some as the midi skirt) and have been wanting a formal dress with a A-line tea length skirt for some time. Very 1950’s but I wanted a modern feel. This skirt is created by Peace Love Tulle, and as a result I also began following its creator, Kristina, on Instagram as well.

After thumbing through Instagram for some inspiration for my outfit- it hit me: one of these tulle skirts could be it. It’s classic, but can have the edge- as was demonstrated by Sarah Jessica Parker during the opening credits of each Sex and the City Episode.

So, what color skirt to go with? I’ll let that be a surprise but I will tell you it took some time to decide what I wanted to pair with it. I decided on a black, spaghetti strap tank top. But I can NOT find the style I want.

Solution? Make it. Not me of course, I don’t have the patience to sew. But I do have the ideas of what I want done and it just so happens that a friend is starting to make her own hand painted silk scarf line- and she’s going to make me a tank top as well. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

So, what are YOU going to wear to Savannah Fashion Week? Or what would you wear if you could wear anything?

Here’s an idea: tell me what you are either going to wear or want to wear. You can post it on my Facebook page, Tweet it to me , or tag me on a post in Instagram (@MakeItWorkMolly). The best TWO ideas will win a VIP ticket for the Savannah Fashion Week runway show! MAKE SURE you use the hashtag #SFW2014outfit and tag me in your posts (Make It Work Molly) otherwise I won’t see it and your entry won’t be counted! (And make it a public post, too.) We’ll run this contest until next Wednesday April 23rd- good luck y’all!

Love to all y’all
