Revolutionary Evangelist Comes to Macon, Georgia

As an Episcopalian, there’s much about evangelism that I don’t understand. To me, religion is somewhat easy.

God is love.

These days, I’m also realizing that I’ve done a poor job of keeping up with friends who feel the same way. That for us, religion is fairly simple and is about God’s love and that is plays a HUGE part in our lives. And I miss being around more of those ladies.

That’s one big thing that I’m looking forward to – being around a bunch of like-minded ladies who believe that love, faith, and good ol’ plain moxie matters in life.

Which is, also, the name of this event on January 24th: Moxie Matters Tour. Headlined by the incorrigible Jen Hatmaker.

For those who don’t know her story, Hatmaker landed herself in the headlines some two years ago when calling for the inclusion of gay marriage into Christianity. It found her books shunned from bookstore shelves. It brought her death threats.

This tour highlights her book: Of Mess & Moxie. And I gotta tell y’all, I feel like the words mess and moxie are at the core of my life. Being a working single parent, with my own business on the side of my job, with the kids schedules- with everything. Moxie is needed to keep on pushing through all of the mess. Southern Living featured the book as one that would be sure to make you laugh.

“With playful hilarity, shameless honesty, and refreshing insight, these good friends—messy buns and all—invite audiences in to join them for a night of lively conversation and soulful music about wrangling delight out of the mess of life. Pouring out compassion and reassurance, they remind us that all the miles along the way matter—all the pain, the tears, the late nights, the questions, and confusion. None of it is wasted as we journey closer to who we were meant to be and the dreams God has for us.” – This, this I’m looking forward to. (Excerpt is from the press release.)

Along with Jen, there will be Nichole Nordeman.

“Nichole has sold more than 1 million albums and won 9 GMA Dove Awards, including two awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. The video of ‘Slow Down’ struck a chord with parents everywhere, amassing more than 20 million views. Her songs chronicle the journey, the ups and downs of life, and not looking back with regret—but with thankfulness that God was there at every turn. ‘In the hands of Jesus, every one of those miles brought me to right now,’ she says. ‘Nothing wasted. Every mile mattered.’ She understands beautiful, messy, flawed and faithful community…and the safety and support offered to one another there.”

“In this evening experience with Jen and Nichole, you will laugh. Make new friends. Swap stories. Share struggles. Breathe. Listen. Own your mess. Stand with one another. Silence the voices of regret. Recognize that every part of your journey—every broken place—is leading to a bigger, more beautiful story. You will discover you have all the spirit you need for living a courageous, grace-filled life—grace for every mistake and weakness. Grace even for hypocrisy and shame. You will remember you are not alone.”

I, for one, am really looking forward to this event. And I hope to see all y’all there, too! Go to this link to get your tickets now 🙂

Love to all y’all,
