One Lazy Bragg Jammer

So look, my Bragg Jam prep has been super lazy this year especially compared to years past. I haven’t even bought my ticket yet. If you haven’t done much research yet, then I encourage you to listen to their Spotify list – which I had forgotten about until it was mentioned on my FB thread:

From their Spotify list, there’s some real standouts for me:

Heather Gillis Band

Had never heard of her before, but I like the opening twang of “Gonna Be a Storm”- “I could never love you and I know I never will”. Female lead singer singing about the oncoming storm of love and broken hearts, I’m there for it.

SONTALK

“I Am A War Machine”

I really like what seems to be a contrast between the hopeful sounding music and the lyrics. And I’m not the world’s best at identifying certain instruments in songs, but it sounds like there’s this really fun slide guitar action happening in this particular song.

of Montreal on Friday night will be fantastic for sure- I saw them the last time they were in town and man- that’s an artistic show. Not just in the music but also the show itself, very artistic. Just go for the experience!

I already know that I love Anderson East- which to me seems like a huge get for Bragg Jam- and the Futurebirds. These are artists that are on my regular rotation as it is, but honestly I think the thing with music festivals is to be open with just wandering into a venue and checking out someone new. You never know whose music you’ll fall in love with, and who sounds different live as opposed to an in studio recording.

Even though I don’t have my tickets yet I do know what no matter what, Bragg Jam always produces a lifetime of memories. Most of mine are more than a little sentimental and feature folks who are dear to my heart. For instance, Bragg Jam 2015 remains close to my heart. So many friends moved away that year, and that one night we were all there at the last show together to cheer on our friend Floco. I replay this one every year.

So here’s to making more Bragg Jam memories. May you stay hydrated and wear sensible clothing, this is not the evening to fool with looking cute.

Love to all y’all,
