Not quite hate week…but almost

Week 8. And this football season is getting crazier by the week. Sark checked into rehab and USC relieved him of his duties, Spurrier called it quits, Michigan State upsetting Michigan in the Big House,  I mean what’s going to happen next….Urban Meyer “retires” again?  Who knows?

Here’s how we did last week.

Garret 8-2 (71-18)
Daniel 8-2 (70-19)
Isaiah 8-2 (46-29)

Katie’s Picks
#1 Ohio St @ Rutgers
#2 Baylor v Iowa St
#3 Utah @ USC
#4 TCU – bye week
#5 LSU v Western Kentucky
#6 Clemson @ Miami (FL)
#7 Michigan St v Indiana hmm.. either Sparty will ride the coattails over last week’s upset of Michigan in the Big House & absolutely destroy Indiana…or they’re still celebrating and Indiana will play them closer than we all think, either way I think Sparty wins.
#8 Alabama v Tennessee  as much as I would love to see the upset, I think Bama beats the Volunteers and all their dead bodies they buried in Neyland
#9 FSU @ Georgia Tech
#10 Stanford v Washington

UGA – bye week
Florida- bye week
Mercer v VMI
North Dakota St @ Indiana St
Texas v K-State

Garret’s Picks
#1 Ohio St @ Rutgers Ohio State goes to Rutgers, and it won’t be pretty. While the Buckeyes and Urban Meyer still have no idea who’s going to be their Quarterback when they play an undefeated Iowa team in the BIG Championship game (Iowa plays no one who matters anymore this season. If they’re not 12-0 and playing in Indy, then the Hawkeyes HAVE to say it’s a failure of a season at this point), it won’t matter against this dumpster fire of a team in Piscataway. Ohio State wins, but they won’t cover the spread
#2 Baylor v Iowa St Baylor plays a shockingly bad Iowa State team this week at home. The spread is at least five touchdowns as of Thursday afternoon, but I’m not sure that’s enough.Baylor rolls.
#3 Utah @ USC Oh this is a great matchup in Los Angeles this week! Undefeated Utah comes to USC, and I have a strong feeling that it’ll be a nail-biter. Utah will win this game late because of their defense, but I’m not surprised if the Trojans win it as well. USC has to be licking their chops after losing to Notre Dame when they shouldn’t have. The craziest bit about this entire game? Utah is the underdog according to Las Vegas. Take the money and the spread, and bet on the Utes!
#4 TCU – bye week
#5 LSU v Western Kentucky Do I have to write about LSU? God, I hate the Mad Hatter…I can’t stand him. Yes, I am still very sore and upset about that fake field goal. Back to reality though, does anyone really think the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky with that weird red Kool Aid man version of a Philadelphia Phillies mascot have a chance in Death Valley at night against the LSU Fighting Fournettes? That’s what I thought. LSU wins, but won’t cover the spread because their starters get pulled early.
#6 Clemson @ Miami (FL) Clemson is heading to South Beach this weekend, and I foresee their trip being as fruitful as the second year of Lebron at the Miami Heat. Those poor, hapless Hurricanes of Miami are going to be Tiger Bait. I have a feeling that Al Golden will see his fifth year be his FINAL year at Miami. Clemson might not cover the spread, but they’re going to win.
#7 Michigan St v Indiana Indiana is not beating Michigan State. I don’t care about trap games, emotional highs, whatever. The Spartans are not losing to the Hoosiers. Indiana has beaten the fearsome Southern Illinois, Florida International, Wake Forest, and Western Kentucky, but they’ve lost to Rutgers, Ohio State, and Penn State. The Spartans aren’t losing to that. They’re not…Clemson (don’t kill me Dabo). Sparty wins!
#8 Alabama v Tennessee While I’d love to say that Nick Satan, er Saban, and his Crimson Tide get stunned by Tennessee, I just don’t see that coming anywhere close to possible. I won’t ignore Alabama’s slow start against Arkansas or their failure to put Texas A&M away for some time, but they’re nowhere near as damning as Tennessee choking several times this season so far. It will be a close affair, and Tennessee should lead this game at some point in the second half. Nevertheless, Alabama is both too deep and talented, and they’ll win this game.
#9 FSU @ Georgia Tech FSU and Georgia Tech? Am I supposed to offer an unbiased opinion here? While I want Georgia Tech to go back to their Cumberland College roots and set a new scoring record against Florida State, that’s not happening. The hapless Yellow Jackets do not have much sting at the moment. They’ve lost five in a row, and are limping bad at home. Florida State WILL win this game, but for all of the teams mentioned in the picks today, this is the closest one to a trap game. FSU does have a better rushing defense than in years past, but this option has always given them trouble. The Noles might be looking ahead already at that tantalizing matchup on November 7 AT Clemson. Don’t be surprised if they goalposts come down at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday night!
#10 Stanford v Washington The Stanford Cardinal is a weird situation. I was clearly anti-Stanford and laughing at them after that week one collapse against Northwestern (which is a VERY bad loss, now that the Wildcats are free-falling). They get the Washington Huskies at home on Saturday night, and it might be a classic PAC-12 battle where the Wildcats pull another ridiculous 17-12 upset. I don’t think Stanford falls for that though, and they’ll win.

UGA – bye week Florida and Georgia are both on a bye in the week leading up to the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party (I will ALWAYS refer to this game as such). Florida is still stewing about their loss in Death Valley, and Georgia still thinks a 9-6 win between the hedges is something to be proud of. Neither side wins this week, but Florida is going to spank Georgia in a week’s time. Alas, there will be more on that later.
Florida- bye week
Mercer v VMI Mercer! On Homecoming weekend, the Bears are going to teach the VMI Keydets why you shouldn’t come to Macon expecting a win
North Dakota St @ Indiana St You might be able to win four national championships in a row North Dakota State, but it’s going to be a long night in Terre Haute, Indiana. Indiana Stateupsets the national champs! AND they put the Bison on the brink of missing the playoffs.
Texas v K-State While I want Charlie Strong to continue the resurgence of his career after all those losses in Austin, the Wildcats are too good and are looking to bounce back! Kansas State wins this one, but they’ll leave it late!

Daniel’s Picks
#1 Ohio St @ Rutgers
#2 Baylor v Iowa St
#3 Utah @ USC
#4 TCU – bye week
#5 LSU v Western Kentucky
#6 Clemson @ Miami (FL)
#7 Michigan St v Indiana
#8 Alabama v Tennessee
#9 FSU @ Georgia Tech
#10 Stanford v Washington

UGA – bye week
Florida- bye week
Mercer v VMI
North Dakota St @ Indiana St
Texas v K-State

Isaiah’s Picks
#1 Ohio St @ Rutgers  41-17
#2 Baylor v Iowa St (Infinity sign) – 21
Humor me and let’s remember the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. Remember the stunned and horrified faces surrounding Tom Hanks as his company was ripped to shreds? Imagine them in helmets and pads and replace the incoming mortar fire with 40 yard passes. There. You just saved three hours of a Saturday. You’re welcome.
#3 Utah @ USC 35-32
Aw, damn. No more awesome drunk coach press conferences. The last fun thing USC had before that was by proxy of Mark Sanchez and the infamous Buttfumble.
#4 TCU – bye week
#5 LSU v Western Kentucky 38-24
#6 Clemson @ Miami (FL) 28-21
#7 Michigan St v Indiana 42-38
#8 Alabama v Tennessee 35-32
– The phone lines for the Paul Finebaum Show will be lit up like the Fourth of July on Monday. “PAWL, This here’s Phyllis from Dothan! Roll damn Tide, Paul! The Tide didn’t fold to those Vols like them Gawja Bulldogs did!”
#9 FSU @ Georgia Tech 38-28
– FSU and Georgia Tech? More like criminals versus nerds. Replace the pregame clips with scenes of Judd Nelson and Anthony Michael Hall from the Breakfast Club and no one would know the difference. Anyway. Go Jackets, I suppose.
#10 Stanford v Washington

UGA – bye week Guys! Coach Richt put this really funny Family Circus comic strip on the bulletin board last week! Jeffy totally pronounced ‘spaghetti’ as ‘pasghetti’!
Florida- bye week
Mercer v VMI 45-21
North Dakota St @ Indiana St 41-35 Dang. The Bison let us down last week, gang. I think this week a lively turnaround will be inevitable following ND State’s arrival in the relatively tropical climate of Terre Haute.
Texas v K-State 35-32
