A Moonhanger Kind of Day: H&H, El Camino, and Dovetail Part 2

Part 2 of my Moonhanger Day would include stopping into the brand new restaurant El Camino.

I typically don’t go into a new business unless a few things are present: if it’s a large chain (i.e.- SkyZone- review still pending on that) or if it’s a smaller business that has already shown success elsewhere. So I felt like making a quick stop into El Camino, even on their second official night open, was a safe bet.

It was a safe bet. More than that. My first night in I just got one taco: The Good Shepherd (El Pastor)- Marinated pork tenderloin, charred peach and poblano relish, sheep’s milk cheese, salsa verde. Y’ALLLLLLL- it was so damn good. The pork was cooked perfectly but the peach and poblano relish with the cheese and all just really sold it for me.

My friend, Jen, was in town from Athens and she got the Pescador: Fried catfish, radish jalapeño slaw, sheep milk cheese, smoked tomato pasilla negro crema.

To quote Jen: “This was even better than the Taqueria (in Athens)”. Sold!!!

We had reservations at Dovetail after so that was all we had time for, but I’ve been back for other items and I always have to get the El Pastor. It’s just too damn good not to. I love it.

How did the rest of the night go? Tune in for round three….

Love to all y’all,
