Meet Dotted Tusk, from Louisiana- and in Macon tomorrow!

So, some of the perks of being me is I have designers reach out to me. This time, Caroline of Dotted Tusk reached out to me because she saw a post I made on Rumor Boutique’s Facebook page. I have to say, we had a lovely chat this evening and I thought it would be nice if I did a brief interview with her for yall. You see, she happens to have a trunk show tomorrow here at the very same Rumor Boutique. So, ladies and gents, meet Miss Caroline and Dotted Tusk:

Make It Work Molly: So, Caroline, tell me about yourself, name age hometown college, etc.

Caroline of Dotted Tusk: My name is Caroline Gladney and I am 24 years old, I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and went to college at Alabama where I graduated with a finance degree. However, after graduation I knew I had other passions so I set my degree aside and started making a business plan.

MIWM: How did you get started making jewelry? How old were you?

CTD: I actually started Dotted Tusk in summer of 2011 with a friend where we would travel to India and work with manufacturers there to import jewelry, scarves and other accessories. By February of 2012 I knew I wanted to focus on my own personal designs so I bought me partner out and started designing and making my own jewelry, which has always been a passion of mine.

MIWM: What makes your designs different from anyone else?

CTD:  I cannot say that my jewelry is completely different than everything else out there, that would be a stretch, but what I can say is my jewelry is made for the everyday, versatile woman. I aim to make pieces that are fun and trendy, yet still simple enough to wear forever and for every outfit. I really just make jewelry to follow my own personal style where I can wear a necklace with a plain white tee during the day and also wear with a LBD later that night. I am just flattered that people like my designs!

MIWM: How many stores are you in and where?

CTD: Over the past year my line has been picked up by over 20 stores in states from TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, SC and others. My hopes are to continue that expansion outside of the south!

MIWM: How did you find Rumor? Tell us about the trunk show!

CTD: I stumbled upon Rumor Boutique while in Macon, GA for the day a few weeks ago. I just went in because it looked cute, which it is, and ended up connecting with the store owner and now here we are having a show together! It is really exciting!

MIWM: Tell us why you, why we should buy your items:

CTD: I just want people to not only connect with my pieces, but also with me. To me, every piece of jewelry tells a story, that’s why I am so passionate about it. I name every piece I make after a person in my life so every time I look at it, I get to think of that person. It just makes me really happy and I hope that my jewelry ends up being a story for someone else.

MIWM: Where else can we find you online? FB page? Twitter?

CTD: You can find Dotted Tusk on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest (all under the user name Dotted Tusk) and of course online at www.dottedtusk.com

MIWM: Also… Tell us about this contest and how readers can win.

CTD: Tomorrow at the trunk show I will be hosting a giveaway of a necklace and coordinating earrings valuing at $85.00! If you come and spend $50.00 or more on Dotted Tusk jewelry your name gets entered! The winner will be picked at the end of the day!

Well, if that’s not enough motivation for yall I don’t know what is… so be sure to get to Rumor Boutique tomorrow to meet Caroline of Dotted Tusk!

Love to all yall….
