Making Jewelry Your Whole Outfit- Savannah Fashion Week

 

 

One of the last designers at Savannah Fashion Week was Zia Sachedina, of Zia’s Boutique. I was able to go in Zia’s on the first day of Savannah Fashion Week and was of course, immediately blown away by what he has to offer. So many handmade, high quality pieces- like nothing I’ve seen anywhere else.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But what was really interesting to me is how many of his pieces can truly be an outfit all on their own. Each of his models during the runway show was clad in a black bathing suit, and draped a silk scarf of some bright color behind them, while wearing these large- sculpture like jewelry pieces Zia designed.

 

 

 

While I am not advocating walking around downtown in a bathing suit, I think this speaks to something larger: the idea of taking the simplest outfit and accessorizing it well. Even placing bracelets on the upper biceps could be pulled off by the ordinary, every day lady.

One could easily pull off this look with  black, or single colored, jumpsuit or romper. As for a dress, I would say perhaps keep the dress length long- in my mind, a shorter dress might be distracting with large amounts of jewelry, but this of course would also depend on the dress.

 

 

 

 

A romper or jumpsuit which is sleeveless or has a sweetheart strapless neckline would be perfect for this look.
