Losing a Restaurant Legend

Today is the last day one of my favorites will be open.

Harpin’s has always been my go-to place when my mom and I catch lunch.

They’ve got my favorite cake. They’ve got my favorite Quiche. I love their crab and corn chowder.

Their owners, Paul and Hazel, also owned Capers- where I went for my senior prom dinner ages ago.

Most know the story of how Paul was once the chef to Mick Jagger, and how he came to Macon.

Now it’s time for us to really give back in a big way, once they retire- and before they move.

Paul and Hazel are also just good people. They go to my church. They’ve always been there at points in my life- like when they helped cater my baby shower. The prom I mentioned before. And anytime my heart-felt a little heavy, their soups could pick me up.

I just hate this last day happens when I’m out of town- perhaps I can get back before the end of their lunch.

Go and have some of their food for me today! And read Saralyn’s embedded post about how we can help later.

Love to all y’all,

Molly
