Hartley from Betsy Pittard Designs

UPDATE: Hieee! Want to win the earrings Betsy talks about below as the ones she can’t live without?! Of course you do- after you read the interview go and like Aesthetic Body Sculpture’s Facebook page- then get your friends to like it as well. Whoever refers the most friends (tell them to comment with who sent them) wins the earrings!

Know what’s really cool? When you can watch a designer grow from the very beginning of their career and evolve into a thriving business. That’s what I’ve had the pleasure of doing with Betsy Pittard. I wrote about her when I was myself a new fashion writer for Macon Food and Culture Magazine. So when I saw that she was coming out with a new line of jewelry, Hartley for Betsy Pittard Designs, well I had to ask her about it. And of course I knew y’all would want to know!

MIWM: I remember writing about your jewelry when it first came out at Head Over Heels- at their old location further down Forsyth. Gosh- what year was that?! I can’t even remember!
BPD: I know! It seems like forever ago! it was back in 2006….crazy. I’m eternally grateful to Ashley [at Head Over Heels] for giving me that first chance.
MIWM: How many stores now carry your jewelry? And how many different states?
BPD: If you include the two new stores shipping out next week, that makes 64 stores in 12 states!
MIWM: I also remember asking you at that time if you planned on doing this for a living, as best as I can remember you didn’t think you would. Could you ever imagine things would take off like this for you?
BPD: No, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that BPD would be where it is today; sometimes I still have to pinch myself! When I started this company, it was more of a hobby than a full time job. But over the course of the past few years, BPD has become my passion. After graduating college, I decided to fully focus my efforts towards growing my business. Even though I know there is always room for growth and improvement, it certainly makes the long work days worth it to see how far BPD has come.
MIWM: So, tell us about your new line: Hartley. What exactly is this about? What inspired you?

BPD: The name ‘Hartley’ came easy considering I’m a love struck newlywed 🙂 I envision ‘Hartley’ to be a sophisticated couture line with the everyday woman in mind. Whereas BPD has room to be edgy and on the latest trend, Hartley will be a line of fun, yet classic pieces that are timeless.

For me, I really am loving the direction BPD is going in with Hartley- I love classic, clean jewelry looks for my everyday wear. Which is why the large brand I gravitate towards most is Tiffany’s. Simple, clean looks are so easy for every day. Hartley has this going on as well.

In fact… I happen to know that there will be a Hartley giveaway coming up- stay tuned on my Facebook page for more information!

Love to all y’all,
