Forget Chicken & Waffles! Try BBQ and Waffles!

Ok maybe I’m jumping the gun when I say forget chicken and waffles outright, because that’s amazing no matter what.

But I was intrigued when I saw BBQ and Waffles on Saralyn’s menu at Grow restaurant on Riverside Drive in Macon. I was first interested by her posts about having strawberries on the menu when I got distracted by the BBQ & Waffles listed:

So I had to have it.

Now, I have to add, I did have to get it to-go and take back to work.

Ok let’s get to it- just like you might not think about chicken and waffles going together I would think the same thing about barbecue and waffles. But it’s SO DAMN GOOD! Maybe it’s the maple bbq sauce, the combo of the savory and sweet. Maybe it’s the tangy cole slaw.

Maybe it’s the hot sauce butter and syrup. Maybe it’s the jalapenos (which I did pull off and cut up into smaller bits- that just how I like it.)

I dunno, I just know it made me do a happy dance at work. Good food made from sustainable ingredients is important to all of us, and I’m happy that Grow is here and can do it in such a tasty and creative way.

But- they’re menu changes often so if you want to try this be sure to check out their Facebook page each week!

Our little garden at Grow is not much yet- Pieter stole all my parsley- but look forward to squash blossom poppers and nasturtiums on salads!
