Downtown Macon: Fried Seafood For Lunch, Macon Made Coffee For Dessert

It was a grey day, and I had considered not getting dressed. Get dressed? Get motivated? Or…… stay inside in my pajamas?

Today getting motivated to get up and get dressed won out. Even as I am so tired that I seriously just typed “one” for “won”. (Yikes- caffeine IV drip anyone?)

So I slapped on some lipstick, put on my newest cute jersey jumpsuit from Karats and Keepsakes, and proceeded to win the hell out of this day. Even with four hours of sleep. Katie had texted me in my moment of decision making asking to meet for lunch so now I was going to make it happen.

The debate was on for where to eat lunch, and as I hadn’t checked out Kudzu yet- that was what won out. And what better than fried shrimp on a day like today when I should be in the gym instead? So that’s what we did, heading on to downtown Macon.

Katie got the BBQ Shrimp & Grits- and let me samples them 😉 I liked the bar-be-que on the shrimp, especially on top of the cheese grits and the bites of ham. I got the shrimp basket with cheese grits- all good choices. I’m really glad downtown has a seafood restaurant option now, it’s nice to have some variety.

The space itself is really cool, and I noticed they even have a lunch counter- this is something I always appreciate because I’m frequently dining alone during lunch, since I’m generally working on a post at the same time.

After lunch, I strolled down to Ocmulgee Traders- where I am as I write this post- and I’m listening to Ray LaMontagne on Spotify (can’t believe I missed him when he was here!).

I got the Earl Grey Latte with Almond Milk, not something I would ever try but Katie recommended it and she was right- it’s just enough for an afternoon pick me up.

While chatting with Steve and Laura Bell I found out they are now carrying a coffee line made right here in Macon!

This makes me very happy. I love finding new kinds of coffee, and this line smells lovely. So you should go check out their new private label, and it’s nice to have yet another Macon Made product!

Hope y’all are enjoying this lovely dreary day- if I can get out in it with 4 hours of sleep, then you can too.

Love to all y’all,
