Cocktails, Food, and FUN at {The Bird}

The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom is a Macon staple. If you have ever ventured downtown into the thick of the city’s culture, you will find this venue in the center of it. Located on Cherry Street, it’s a prime spot for local and touring bands alike. With bartender, Kelly Holland bringing new life to happy hour and fresh deals thrown in the mix, it’s a good time to grab a few friends and enjoy all the scene has to offer.

Kelly Holland who has worked for the Hummingbird for about two years has only been in charge of their happy hour for over a month now and has already given it a creative twist. “I know when I sit down to a bar how I like my drinks made.” Using her love for cooking as inspiration, Kelly hopes to bring new life to old favorites. “It’s basically applying a fresh idea to a classic drink. If you make something from scratch, with love and it’s with fresh ingredients, it makes things taste amazing.”

The Hummingbird prioritizes creating a sense of community and comfort for its patrons. If you have a birthday coming up, you can reserve a table or the back porch patio. They will even help with birthday cake arrangements and special drinks all around as long as you contact them ahead of time with your request. Themed parties and themed drinks to match are a favorite of theirs to incorporate.

They are working to make food even more accessible in their bar atmosphere. Kelly said they are planning to start weekly potlucks with Ms. Pat, who is responsible for the Hummingbird Thanksgiving dinner. As supporters of downtown, they also have a Barefoot Tavern menu behind the bar. You can place an order and Barefoot’s wait staff will bring it right over.
