A Dish To Save The Day: Friendsgiving 2013 at The Bungalow Kitchen

I do love to cook, I really do, but when invited to a large Friendsgiving event with a whole bunch of foodies- the pressure is really on. And in those situation, or even those less extreme, I always get someone else to do the cooking for me.

I’ve been using The Casserole Shop for yeaaaaaars in these situations. It’s just too easy to take my casserole dish from Isabel’s ( GOD I miss that place!) over there to have them fill it with their goodies and then heat up at home. This year was the second annual Friendsgiving- and I knew I had to come ready to impress.

So our hosts were Alex and Eleta Morrison, two fabulous foodies who write the blog The Bungalow Kitchen– I suggest you check it out sometime. And they are experts at gathering people from all circles of Macon. Alex and Eleta really are two of my very favorite people, having known them since college. It’s fun to see my friends from Mercer also integrate in to circles of friends from high school and even newer friends from just hanging out downtown- and Alex and Eleta have done so masterfully.

Oh my gosh, there were sooooo many good things to eat. It was amazing. Alex and Eleta made turkeys on Alex’s Big Green Egg. Sweet potato casserole. Green beans. Oh and cakes and pies and brownies. Ugh I’m still in a food coma.

I’m so sorry I didn’t get pictures before a great majority of the food was gone but it was entirely too good to pause long enough for pictures.

I have to say- I’m grateful for places like The Casserole Shop that they are around for situations like this. As much as I enjoy cooking and experimenting with it, I just know my creations cannot stand up amongst this crowd.

But The Casserole Shop has provided me with a dish to save the day on many other occasions, numerous baby showers, funerals and friends who have just needed a meal on a day when they needed help- they have been there for me.

So if you ever need a dish to save the day, and you don’t have the time or culinary resources to bail you out- be sure to give them a try. You won’t regret it!

Love to all y’all,
