A Decadent Valentine’s Day

A note: many of the following places are booked up for dinner on Valentine’s Day proper, however some might be doing events on Saturday as well- be sure to call them and ask! I even spoke to Paul Harpin today of Harpin’s and he said if he gets enough inquiries he will be open Saturday…. now continue on….

There are some of us that eating out, or eating special, is just that: a special occasion. I think it’s rather well documented here that I consider myself somewhat of a foodie. Valentine’s Day presents to you the opportunity to feed the soul of your love quite literally. It was George Bernard Shaw who said “there is no love sincerer than the love of food”- I would say the same goes for how you express love to your partner. To cook for them, or to give them a food they love, expresses how much you care. And there are some local places ready to help you out!

Saralyn Collins, culinary genius at Good To Go, has created several options for take home for two meals that you can just pop in your oven. Choices include a cheese platter, organic salads, Bourbon glazed salmon and more. And- for an extra charge- you can have delivery. Click here for more info.

Harpin’s, in lil ol’ Payne City (basically smack dab in the middle of Macon), will have (to name a few options) lobster bisque, bistro mushrooms, Beef Wellington, roast duck along with veggies and bread and dessert. And, Paul Harpin said if he gets enough interest he will extend this offer to Saturday too! Yay small business!

Other Facebook friends, thanks to my crowdsourcing efforts, let me know that Chick-Fil-A is planning a V-Day special:

I do love some egg and cheese biscuits…. and also good ol’ Macon institution S&S is having a special:

As of the last time I checked, Dovetail still had a few late night reservations around 10:00 pm- but make sure you call NOW for any place requiring reservations!!

Lemongrass is also having a special event- this is direct from one of their owners- as told to me on Facebook: ” We turn the lights out and light the restaurant inside and out with candles…a special menu will be in place highlighting Asian Fusion and Fresh Seafood and Steaks”. That sounds really cool, to be honest, I’d be interested to see what Lemongrass looks like all lit up like that!

Then again, perhaps a special dinner is typical for you- maybe what YOU want is a special sweet treat? Amanda’s Cakery is offering specials now on their cupcakes! Let me tell you, this is NOT to be passed up. This would even make an awesome Valentine’s present for the kids. Their Valentine’s Day Specials are:
Individual Key Lime Cheesecakes $5
Valentine’s Day Chocolate Chip Cookie Bag (6) $5

Sweetheart Box $12

AND the Jars of Love have already sold out. I’m thinking these cookie bag is well deserved for my kids teachers, or maybe even the cupcakes themselves. It’s never too late to kiss up to teachers, right????

Oooookay well, looks I’ll be making some calls tomorrow! (But seriously- the cupcakes and cookies are a good idea for teachers so if y’all could hold off long enough for me to get MY order in that would be great. THEN you can tear each other apart for the rest.)

Happy Valentine’s planning!!! Make is a decadent one 😉

Love to all yall
